On Valentine’s Day I posted Charity Clay’s creative single “Runnin’ Man” off her upcoming album “The Smokey Winston Project Redux” and now I’m here to introduce you guys to a video off that same project. “Diamond In The Rough” is a song that will automatically take you back to the story-telling days of Hip Hop. This joint gives the listeners a little insight on Charity’s views on life and her upbringing, while also giving you something to relate to. It reminds you of the days of being bullied, standing up for yourself, being a “trouble-maker” in class, and wise words from your parents. This is what Hip Hop is missing. Hip Hop is missing the story-telling element along with a story that people, every day people like you and I, can listen to, smile, and just say “I know exactly what she’s talking about.” The video does a good job of capturing the essence of the song by giving us a small look at Charity’s neighborhood. If you can’t relate, you will still admire the use of the nearly extinct art of story-telling. Press play below and enjoy! Look out for the Womazing premiere of The Smokey Winston Project Redux! That should be dropping very soon.
