Hello all! Kas and I are ecstatic to announce the contest winners! This was the criteria for the scoring of the contest:
Punchlines – This includes similes, metaphors, and overall lyricism.
Flow – This includes things such as cadence and breath control. Higher points will be granted to those who are able to showcase multiple types of flow.
Presence – This includes your voice and tone. We picked up-tempo beats on purpose. We don’t want to hear any submissions where your voice sounds like you’re falling asleep or singing a lullaby.
Uniqueness/Creativity – The more creative you are with what you’re saying, execution, overall techniques, or approach, the more points you will receive.
Sound Quality – Basically, make sure it sounds clean. We don’t want any submissions that you recorded through a voice memo on your phone and decided to send in.
Every category was scored by using a point system. The most points one was able to achieve for each category was 5 points, which means the scale ran from 0-5 points. Kas and I individually scored each submission, then tallied up the points, and found the average of each summation
We provided two instrumentals (J Dilla’s “Cold Steel” or DJ Premier’s “The Format”) and told our contestants to choose one of the two to freestyle/write a free verse to. Their time limit was two minutes and thirty seconds, and the deadline was May 4, 2012.
Anyway, that’s enough of that. We will be posting the top 5 freestyles (of the ones who barely missed the cut) on the site (along with their contact info) sometime soon!

Drum roll, please!
1st place: Dominique Larue – The average between the two scores Dominique Larue was given, was a 4.6. As the winner of the contest, Dominique will be added to the roster of our next Womazing show in Florida. Womazing will pay for her flight there and back and also for her stay in Florida!
