The genius of Numonics is back at it again and this time he has delivered an impeccable work of art. The (Instru)Mentalist. He finds the perfect way of putting a nug of funk, an ounce of soul, a gram of the blues and a shitload of nasty and unifies it to become this rollercoaster ride of eargasmic instrumentals. Starting off with a bitchslap of bass, “What The Lick Read” kicks off the album and sets the tone for what you are about to experience. The winner for me on this project has to be “Homecoming” though. I swear if you don’t feel like you want to get the fuck up, go out and take over the world when you hear it then I don’t know what is wrong with you. And… if you want some classic Miami, booty poppin’, bass dopeness…don’t worry. “Handstand” will take you back into the 90′s real quick. I can see this being a new South Floridian anthem for sure.
With Jeff Dekal creating the intricately detailed artwork for it’s cover and being executive produced by J57 of the Brown Bag All Stars, “The (Instru)Mentalist” is worth every second of your leisure time. I promise this.
The album is available for free download over at DjBooth.net but if you purchase the download for $5.99, you get an additional 6 bonus beats not included in the free download & stream.
